The Government adopted a decision to increase the state's shareholding in the capital of the National Company Industrial Zones EAD, Sofia /NCIZ/.
The decision gives consent the state to increase its shareholding in the capital of the National Company Industrial Zones EAD, Sofia, through a cash contribution of BGN 44.8 million in total.
The allocated financing represents BGN 23.5 million targeted funding for the design and construction of a new electrical substation and feeder transmission infrastructure in the Industrial Park Sofia - Bozhurishte. As a result of the increased interest and rapid development of the park over the last few years, NCIZ has been looking for a way to provide additional electrical capacity needed for the successful implementation of both future and current investment projects. Thanks to the funding provided, NCIZ will be able to find a lasting solution to the capacity shortage.
At present, the NCIZ is in negotiations with investors from several countries intending to implement various production activities on the territory of the park. The construction of an electrical substation will allow the company to secure these projects and attract local and foreign investments worth over EUR 70 million, which will open over 500 new jobs.
The remaining part of the approved financing of BGN 21.3 million will be directed to the infrastructure development of the Dobroslavtsi Economic Zone EAD, a subsidiary of NCIZ, established with the aim to attract strategic investments in the automotive sector.
The development of the two industrial zones will stimulate the entry of foreign direct investment /FDI/ and support the sustainable economic development of the country in the long-term.
